Love made England protestants.

Give a look at the image the man in beard is King Henry 8 of England. He had opposed protestants in the past. But love made him change his choice and England's too.

Henry had married his brother's widow, Catherine of Aragon a Spanish princess. And this lady had bore him a girl named Mary. Henry was desperate for a son so that he could get a successor for his throne. He started looking for a second wife who could give him a son.

And in his this quest as he was open for a new love he fell in love with Anne Boleyn, a yong lady of the royal court. His love was so great for Anne that he decided to divorce Catherine. And this seemed impossible in a Catholic England. Still he requested the Pope for a divorce.

And Pope like a typical government employee sat on the request file. Actually Pope was in a tight spot. He did not want to annoy King of Spain who was a relative of Catherine. But as we know love knows no season no clime. So, Henry  who was mad in love was greatly annoyed. And at the insistence of his minister, Thomas Cromwell he proclaimed himself the Head of the Church in England. Thus, he no longer needed Pope's permission for his divorce and Henry married Anne.

Gradually the reformation spread all over England. That's the power of love.
