Love your motherland : 9 months to live.

Stamatis Moraitis, a Greek, of the tiny island of Ikaria moved to the mighty US in 1943. Here to his dismay he was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1976 and given nine months to live. When a total of nine different doctors confirmed to him about his ailment he decided to go back to his native land and die there peacefully in the presence of his near and dear ones.

Here he was on bed for six months being tended by his mother and wife where his friends visited him daily in the afternoon who wanted him to die happy. One day he decided to sow vegetables on his land and never expected to live for harvest.

“ I wanted my wife to have fresh vegetables after me,” he declared.

But his motherland did not want to lose her son. And it made a miracle to happen. Instead of dying in nine months you will be surprised and happy to know that Mr. Stamatis Moraitis died just two months back at 102.

And to know the reason of his longevity he had even visited US a decade ago only to find all the nine doctors have already gone to meet their maker. The only reason he could understand for his longevity was the tight embrace of her motherland.
